1. Who can apply for a permanent resident visa?
Persons with business management experience or self-employed experience can apply for immigration to Canada in the business class. More specific requirements exist, depending on whether the applicant intends to be an immigrant investor, an immigrant entrepeneur, or a self-employed business person.
2. Do I have to have a certain amount of assets to qualify?
Applicants in Canada's Investor program must have a mnimum net worth of CAD$800,000. Entrepreneur applicants require a net worth of at least CAD$300,000. Finally, those in the Self-Employed program are required to have sufficient assets to support immediate family members, or CAD$100,000 for those destined to the province of Quebec.
3. Are retirees eligible to immigrate to Canada in this program?
The immigrant investor program is suitable for those with an intent to retire in Canada, as it does not have any obligations following the establishment of permanent resident status. As the other programs have specific requirements as to the management of a business, they are not suitable for those with an intent to retire.
